This is a full-time year-round position with a robust benefits package including Flexible Time Off, matching 401k, Health Benefits, Annual Bonus Incentive Program, and more.
The proposed annual salary starts at $85,000. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience.
POSITION SUMMARY:
POWDR is seeking a dynamic, thoughtful, and innovative candidate to serve as Senior Camp Director for Woodward West. The Senior Camp Director of Woodward West leads all aspects of large-scale youth camp operations. It is a senior management-level position which requires experience in a lead role in the summer camp and action sports industries. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of action sports as it relates to progression in skateboard, BMX, scooter, roller skate, mountain bike, parkour, and trampoline disciplines. The successful candidate will have the ability to implement and administer action sports programs which support the company's core values and strategic plan. The Senior Camp Director of Woodward West will contribute to strategic plans, implement and execute all aspects of the plan and track the effectiveness of plans in place.
Essential functions & Major Responsibilities:
OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP
- Responsible for direction and operations of Woodward West Summer Camps & Event Season Operations.
- Oversees standard operating procedures, property maintenance, and daily operations of Woodward West Summer Camps & Event Season.
- Responsible for risk management function for Woodward West operations including emergency response plans, development and oversight of safety training, and documentation for all incidents.
- Has direct management oversight of departments including Food & Beverage, Health & Safety, and Facilities Maintenance.
- Responsible for oversite and management of programming specific components that impact the camper experience. This includes direction of training initiatives (Coach Academy), programming changes required to meet the needs of an evolving clientele and very strong partnerships with the Programming Director and VP of Camps and Programming.
- Leads and inspires all team members to create exceptional inclusive experiences for guests and staff.
- Effectively manages cultural and operational change by proactively identifying impacts to the employee and guest experience.
- Assists in the strategic planning for development of indoor and outdoor facilities for summer and winter operations, including overall event and promotions calendar
GUEST & RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
- Oversees Guest Research program for Woodward West including communication of results to team leaders, guest follow up, and departmental action planning. Lead guest retention programs in partnership with the guest service, marketing & sales teams.
- Develop relationships with key action sports industry athletes, influencers, shop managers and organizations; Identify and become familiar with all action sports industry events and trends.
- Be a leader in the community to be good stewards of the brand. Lead Play Forever sustainability and community initiatives locally in ways that matter.
SALES & OUTREACH LEADERSHIP
- In partnership with the VP of Camps & Programming, VP of Marketing & Sales and support teams, provide positive leadership to champion camp sales programs and enable all teams to prioritize and execute sales functions successfully.
- Partner with the Sales Channel Leads to provide feedback on appropriate targets for the event outreach and group sales program.
- Provide direction and support for group sales functional owner as needed
- Provide operational alignment and reinforcement for all sales programs as well as feedback on changes required to optimize workflows, resources and effectiveness.
- Recognize, reward and coach team members in support of sales & outreach efforts.
- Provide supporting leadership and resources required to empower team members in sales & outreach efforts.
- Inspires and motivates team to attend and engage in trainings and creates buy in and genuine excitement for opportunities to progress.
TALENT & CULTURE
- Leads Talent & Culture and is a champion of the employee experience.
- Leads all core Human Capital Management functions including talent acquisition, development, engagement and retention programs.
- Maintains awareness of employee relation issues and conflicts. Manages possible escalation in partnership with local and global Talent & Culture resources.
- Works diligently to ensure company policies and practices are maintained through strong communication, reinforcement and driving accountability.
- Responsible for overall employee experience and sets the tone for the local culture of Woodward West. Owns employee communication channels to ensure the right information is communicated to the right groups at the right time in the right channels.
- Drives employee retention in critical areas by creating an inclusive place to work for a diverse talent pool.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
- In collaboration with Finance, oversees all budget planning, monthly financial reporting, and capital planning and tracking.
- Responsible for maintaining Operating Permits & Licenses and complying with all applicable federal, state and local government regulations.
- Track and effectively measure Woodward products and programs to identify opportunities, strengths and weaknesses from season to season.
- Collaborates with Woodward Global team on Finance, Marketing, Talent & Culture and Programming initiatives.
- Works closely with other Woodward business unit leaders as needed.
- Collaborates with Powdr Corp and Powdr Legal, Finance, IT and HR on platform-wide initiatives.
